FRESH OFF HER TOUR IN GHANA, DMV FAVORITE AFI SOUL ANNOUNCES FEBRUARY DATES AT BLUES ALLEY AND SANKOFA
After performances in Ghana, West Africa, singer/Songwriter Afi Soul is returning home to Washington, DC, to promote MRS. NKRUMAH. The EP, her third independent project, is a combo of Afro-beat rhythms and soul melodies recorded on both sides of the Atlantic. The WAMMIE-nominated artist has announced three new shows at iconic DMV venues, just in time for Black History Month, Black Love Day, and Valentine's celebrations.
Audiences can expect to hear MRS. NKRUMAH hits and Afi Soul R&B classics, including standouts from her acclaimed 2007 album LOVELY. That self-produced debut made the number 10 spot on SOULTRACKS, sharing space with artists like Erykah Badu, Angela Johnson, Algebra, and Raheem DeVaughn. Many fans consider BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE -- a supportive anthem for the "brothas" -- to be Afi Soul's signature tune. The music video for the single stayed in rotation on BETJ and VH1 Soul for months and was featured on VH1Soul.com.
The six-track MRS. NKRUMAH was inspired by the artist's experiences over the past four years, splitting time between the US and Ghana, where her husband resides. The production by Wings Armani (Ghana) and guest collaborator Tony Ade (Nigeria) melds Afro-Beats with the soul stylings that have made DC native Afi Soul a staple of the independent R&B scene. MRS. NKRUMAH is available on all major streaming platforms: Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon, Pandora, and Deezer.
